JAMMU, Dec 19: Punjab Birds & Delhi Angels registered convincing wins against Mumbai Mermaids and Chennai Sharks respectively in the ongoing Chief Minister’s T20 Premier League, being jointly organized by J&K Police HG/CD/SDRF and State Sports Council at Parade ground, here.
Alok Puri, IGP Crime J&K was the chief guest and SSP PCR Joginder Singh was the guest of honour in today’s proceedings.
The chief guest and the guest of honour were introduced with the participating teams in the presence of Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, SSP Rashmi Wazir, SSP Shabir Malik, Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar, Sunil Sambyal, RP Singh and Anand Tripathi.
The chief guest along with Ranjeet Kalra and Rajesh Kalra displayed the corner of the “Handa Scooty” which would be presented to player of the tournament.
Earlier in the first match Punjab Birds defeated Kolkata by 84 runs.
Batting first, Punjab Birds scored 168 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs. Manisha (72), Neelam (57) and Radha (26) were the main contributors. From bowling side, Elizabeth and Sapna took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Kolkata Flamingos bundled out for paltry 84 runs. Sapna top scored with 22 runs, while Elizabeth contributed 15 runs to the total. From bowling side, Reena, Radha and Fancy took 2 wickets each, while Naina, Manisha and Neelam claimed 1 wicket each. Manisha was adjudged as the woman of the match for taking hat-trick in her 2nd over.
In the second match, Delhi Angels defeated Rajasthan Scorchers by 7 wickets. Batting first, Rajsthan Scorchers scored 95 runs in 20 overs. Rabia and Puja contributed 18 runs each, while Neha chipped in with 14 runs to the total. From Bowling side, Madhu Lata and Rajni shared 2 wickets each, while Reena Yadav claimed 1 wicket. Delhi Angels chased the target in 15.5 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Thus Delhi won the match by 7 wickets. Rajni top scored with 57 runs, while Sangeeta chipped in with 11 runs. From bowling side, Puja took 1 wicket. Rajni was declared as the women of the match.
