Pulwama Maternity Hospital

It sounds quite strange that on the one hand 112 kanals of land for the proposed 100- bed maternity hospital in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district having been allotted three years back by the Government but no construction has yet taken place and the project continues to be just oscillating between probabilities and hopes of the people of the area.
A notice board has been erected in the plot of land and constructing an entrance road to the plot is all what on the ground the proposed Rs.12 crore project of construction of the much required maternity hospital looks like. The fact that having this hospital is direly needed to cover areas of Shopian also in addition to Pulwama, still no headway has been achieved so far in the matter. People are, therefore, constrained to visit Maternity Hospital at Srinagar , the case load on which could have been considerably reduced with the proposed hospital coming up and functioning. Since reportedly people of the area have struggled hard for this hospital to come up looking to saving their time, money and other hassles in its absence, concerned authorities are urged to resolve the issue if the project otherwise doesn’t stand abandoned.
