Apples produced in the villages of this area are said to be of excellent quality and fruit industry was the mainstay of the villagers. But owing to many problems like scarcity of space, absence of concrete sheds, dilapidated roads, traffic snarls and heaps of dust etc. all have given a set back to the entire fruit business. The market is said to cater to more than 500 villages but as the situation on the ground, it is feared that there could be total collapse of their economic life.
The district level authorities and the Government should put together their efforts and infuse new life in the fruit industry of Pulwama without loss of time. The people of the locality have already suffered damages at the hands of flood and they cannot bear more onslaught. It is the responsibility of the State Government to take steps and alleviate their suffering.
