JAMMU, Apr 19: Minister for CAPD and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today said the Government would involve the public representatives in planning to ensure holistic development at grassroots level.
“The Coalition Government is determined to open a new chapter for all-round progress in the developmental history of the State,” Zulfkar said while addressing a public gathering at Jammu west.
Hailing the Coalition Government’s decision of holding Urban Local Bodies polls, Zulfkar said the Government is keen on devolution of powers at the grassroots to develop the urban areas on modern lines. He said strengthening of grassroots democratic institutions will ensure comprehensive, transparent and tangible development.
Underlining the significance of the democratic institutions, he said that establishment of urban local bodies would also help reduce malpractices and enhance monitoring of development works and financial expenditure. He urged people to be ready to participate in the upcoming urban local bodies elections to elect best candidates and lay edifice for comprehensive development of towns and cities.
Referring to various new initiatives of the present regime, the Minister said that the Coalition Government has developed a vision document to steer the State on the path of peace, progress and stability and ensure equitable development of all the regions and sub-regions. He said various reformative measures have been taken to provide good governance to the people by infusing transparency and accountability in the system.
Terming prompt delivery of public services as an important ingredient of good governance, he said that govt focus is on creation of a dependable and upto the mark public service delivery system in the State where administration would be taken to the task for any delay.
“Government’s priority is to provide hassle-free service delivery by the administration to the people on all fronts,” he added.
