Public cooperation needed for cleanest Jammu: Sharma

Attends All India Mayors conference

JAMMU, Mar 17: After attending the two day general conference of Mayors in Burhanpur in MP, Jammu Mayor, Rajinder Sharma said that the event may prove as game changer in delivering his services in JMC.
Talking to a selected group of journalists, Sharma said that much of the discussion remained on 74th Amendment which transformed the local body to local governance unit.
“Mayors from many municipal corporations were present in the conference and all in one voice lauded PM Modi for empowering the local urban body and transforming into local self governance,” the Mayor maintained, adding: “As already in limelight the JMC received special attention in the conference and the revolutionary steps taken by the local body after I assumed the chair were lauded.”
Rajinder Sharma said that speakers in the conference maintained that it is the conscious public and neither Mayor nor the Commissioner who are behind the cleanest Indore Municipal Corporation area.
“Same we expect in Jammu and for that awareness programmes for the public shall be started soon and we expect the public to cooperate in this regard,” the Mayor continued.
Sharma further said that he highlighted ‘One Earth, One World, One J&K and One Environment’ at the Conference which is the focus point of G20 Summit.
“I also made the gathering of Mayors aware on late night working of my office, campaign of banning plastic in Jammu on which there shall be an event soon and all praised for such innovations,” Rajinder Sharma said.
He also informed that Maduri Patel, Mayor Burhanpur was elected as president of All India Mayors on this occasion.
