JAMMU, Apr 6: A notorious criminal involved in around 17 criminal cases registered with different police stations has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
As per police sources, a notorious criminal identified as Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky, son of Mohan Singh of Model Town Gangyal, at present Shiv Nagar, Seohra, has been detained under stringent PSA by District Magistrate (DM) Jammu Simranjeet Singh.
The accused was involved in around 17 criminal cases including attempt to murder, assault, stabbing, rioting, trespassing with illegal weapons, etc.
Eight cases stands registered against him at Gangyal police station, 6 cases at police station Gandhi Nagar and one each at RS Pura, Bahu Fort and Bari Brahmana police stations.
In a recent case registered against him at RS Pura police station, the accused tried to fire on police party and was nabbed by the police.
During checking, a country made pistol and sharp edged weapons were recovered from his possession.
The accused was leading a group of notorious criminals and was shielding them.
After slapping of PSA, he has been lodged in jail.
