SRINAGAR, Nov 8: Peoples Republican Party (PRP) has expressed grave concern over encroachment of land purchased by government for construction of power projects by mafia groups in various parts of Valley.
In a statement issued here, today president of the organization Mir Ghulam Rasool said that hundreds canals of land belonging to Upper Sindh Hydro Electric Project Stage IInd Kangan has been encroached by mafia groups despite the fact that the people were paid compensation of the land over three decades back after it was purchased by PDD.
Mir also demanded that the machinery of USHP IInd which is idle and rusting at Kangan and other places be utilized for construction of New Ganderbal Project to save the money of State Exchequer. He also demanded that the employees of PDD on deputation to PDC and who have attained superannuation be given retirement benefits immediately.
Mir said a deputation of the Party led by him along with vice president G M War called on MD Power Development Corporation, Shah Faisal and demanded that the State government should take up the construction of power projects in hand whose survey has already been conducted to boost the power generation as well as economy of the State which has a capacity of generating over 20,000 mws of power.
