SRINAGAR, July 2: A delegation of People’s Republican Party (PRP) called on Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Ramvilas Paswan here and strongly advocated for enhancing ration quota for the State under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
The delegation which was led by PRP chief, Mir Ghulam Rasool informed the Union Minister that the people of the State were put to problems after the implementation of NFSA as they are facing dearth of ration since then. Moreover the quota fixed under NFSA per family can’t suffice as the maximum people of the State are rice eaters and hence the quota of rice should be enhanced to 15 kgs in Kashmir Valley per soul while the quota of flour should be increased to 15 kg per soul in Jammu region.
The delegation which submitted a memorandum to Union Minster in presence of Youth Lok Janshakti president Sanjay Saraf said that restoration of peace in the trouble-torn State is the main agenda of PRP and Party stands for secular values, unity of all three regions of the State and it is totally opposed to the division of the nation as well as society on the name of religion and region.
The delegation demanded full share to the State in power projects and return of power projects to it under NHPC for the overall development of the State.
It demanded that Ganderbal be also declared base camp for Baltal route of Amarnath pilgrims and local transport be involved in service of pilgrims to boost the economy of this area too. Besides steps be taken for industrialisation of the State which is the need of hour for its development and solving the unemployment problem. It said Jammu is idle place for establishment of big industries while HMT be reopened in Kashmir Valley and Lassipora industrial centre be also developed properly as six lakh youth are unemployed in the State.
The memorandum further demanded that the Central University campus be shifted to Kheer Bhawani area Tulmulla which is the proposed site for University and clause of Government employee as guarantor for seeking loans by people from banks be removed.
The other members of the delegation included Ghulam Mohammed War senior vice president PRP, Ghulam Mohammad Hamdard its general secretary, Ghulam Mohammad Rather, secretary, Sheikh Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shilvati, district president Bandipora and Abdul Razak Dar district president Ganderbal.
