PRP asks Govt to settle basic demands of people

SRINAGAR, Apr 22: People’s Republican Party (PRP) in its meeting here, today urged the Government to take extra steps for restoration of peace and calm in the State in general and Kashmir Valley in particular where people have suffered immensely during last 27 years of turmoil.
The meeting was chaired by Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani. It said that some agencies have developed vested interest in destabilizing the peace in the State and for this purpose they can go to any extent. It while expressing serious concern over the recent incidents in Valley said the need of hour is that such forces should be unmasked and brought before the people.
The meeting said that till such vested elements are not curbed the peace will be a distant dream in the Valley.
The meeting also appealed the Government to settle the basic demands of the people like water and power supply, providing irrigation facilities to farmers, taking up developmental projects in hand with rebuilding of damaged infrastructure, releasing the salaries of employees, regularization of daily wagers, curbing human rights violations  and revocation of harsh rules and laws and creating employment avenues. It also stressed on opening of more routes to PoK to increase exchange among the people. The meeting also demanded that the unemployed youth applying for loan should be granted the same on mortgaging the land or house instead of providing a guarantor who should be a government employee.
It demanded that the Accountability Commission be given the teeth and PSC and other recruitment agencies be made transparent.
The pothers who attended the meeting included Advocate G M Tramboo, patron of the Party, G M Hamdard, Ghulam Mohammed War, S Bikram Singh, and G M Rather.
