JAMMU, July 8: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the district administration to make arrangements for levy sugar at all ration depots in view of the coming festival season.
The PDP leader from Naraina Mohalla, Shishu Gandotra, said that the holy month of Ramzan is about to begin within days and festivals like Raksha bandhan and Janmasthmi are falling next month for which the Government must make arrangements for levy sugar at all ration depots.
“ Since Centre has stopped giving subsidy on sugar, it is the responsibility of the State Government to immediately provide subsidized sugar to the people so that spirit of festival is not dampened”, he asserted.
He also hoped that the Food and Supply Department of the State will depute special squads to check adulteration of eatables during the holy month of Ramzan and upcoming Hindu festivals.
