JAMMU, Oct 11: West Pakistani Hindu Refugee Front (WPHRF), J&K has urged upon the Prime Minister Union Government to provide them domicile certificate so that they can avail the benefit of Prime ministers Special Scholarship Scheme and monthly cash relief assistance of Rs 10,000 per month as being provided to Kashmiri Pandits.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the front chairman, ML Dabgotra has said that the West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs) settled in J&K are suffering miserably and leading a poor life for the last 70 years as they were not considered as permanent residents of the State, which is a gross violation of Human and Fundamental Rights.
They have also been denied Govt jobs in the State, scholarship to their children, admission in professional (Medical and Technical) Institutes in the State. Even they are unable to get benefit of Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme. These people are not entitled to vote for State Assembly and Local Bodies elections and denied right to own any property in the State.
The chairman WPHRF appealed to the Prime Minister for providing immediate monthly cash relief of Rs 10,000 as being paid to KPs till they are permanently settled , and grated PRC. He also demanded one time settlement package of Rs 5.5 lakh to each old WPR family migrated from Pakistan to Jammu during 1947 as being paid to POJK DPs, an additional relief of Rs 1,00,00,000/- (One crore) to each WPR family to compensate the loss inflicted to them during last 70 years.
He also appealed the PM to grant domicile certificate to the WPRs so that they can avail the benefit of Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS), since in absence of domicile certificate, they cannot avail the benefit of PMSSS.
