JAMMU, Mar 16: A meeting of PDD leaders and activists was held at Party office Gandhi Nagar under the chairmanship of Ramesh Kaul, chairman of the Migrant Cell of the party in which the Government was taken to task for applying the NFSA to migrants.
The meeting while criticizing the Government policies in this regard said that the Act can’t be applied to migrants who have been thrown out from their homes and hearts over 25 years ago and were dependent on cash assistance and free ration from government for their survival and as such the NFSA can’t be applied to these people as the cost of ration is debited to security related expenses.
The meeting demanded that migrants be given ration as per old scale.
The others who attended the meeting included R K Pardesi, Sunil Bhat, S K Raina, P N Zuthsi, Nana Ji Wattal etc said that migrants neither belong to APL nor BPL category and hence the Government should look into the matter as there is no fun of bringing them under purview of NFSA which even the majority people of the State have also rejected.
The meeting also condemned the role of police during the agitation at Jagti yesterday. It also sought immediate intervention of Governor in the matter so that the issue is sorted out to the benefit of the displaced people.
