Provide accommodation to families of ORT Purkhoo: JCC

JAMMU, July 3: Jagti Coordination Committee (JCC) held a meeting under the chairmanship of Ravi Zutsh in which thread bare discussions were held over the various issues being faced by the displaced people. It was observed that the demands put forth by the Committee to the Relief organisation for the overall development of Jagti Township and other TRT camps at Jammu were conceded .
The committee showed its satisfaction with the Relief organisation as most of the works were executed including repair of wash rooms for checking leakages, repair of roofs which were having seepage problems, new roofs were provided to OTS which were fully damaged , face lifting of buildings was done after repair of plaster patches Internal walls of TRT were plastered and all the sets were white washed and distempered damaged doors windows were repaired and painted Inter locking coloured Paver Tiles were provided in between blocks for car parking, parks were developed , five mourning halls were constructed, additional accommodation was provided to existing three community halls and roads were repaired.
It said all the internal roads have been put to tenders and about 50 shops are under construction, street lights were provided to whole of the Township and drinking water supply has been improved while work for up gradation of cremation ground has also been started. The Committee said this became possible after to the Relief and Rehabilitation commissioner T K Bhat took personnel interest in this regard to mitigate the sufferings of camp inmates.
It also expressed the hope that the other demands of the migrants will also be looked into and a strong recommendation will be made for construction of additional residential accommodation at Purkhoo where over 100 migrant families are putting up in damaged quarters in unhygienic condition.
