SUCHETGARH, Oct 18: Lauding the Army for giving a betting reply to Pakistan after Uri terror attack, Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today said that entire nation is standing like a rock behind the Defence forces to teach a lesson to those who are spreading terror on the Indian soil.
Addressing a meeting of border residents at Suchetgarh on the International Border (IB) today, PYC president Pranav Shagotra said that Congress has supported the Army for conducting surgical strikes on terror launching pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). He, however, regretted that BJP has brazenly been indulged into reaping political benefit of such actions of the Army. He said that instead of giving credit to the Army for its valiant action, there is a mad race among BJP leaders to politicize this security issue.
Mr Shagotra pointing towards statement of Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar, who on Monday gave the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the parent organisation of the BJP – credit for the surgical strikes, Mr Shagotra said that it is highly provocative and irresponsible statement. Defence Minister’s statement is nothing but a desperate attempt to reap electoral dividends from the action of the Army. He said that the Army operation is being played up in view of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
“I think for a change, we should give full credit to the Armed forces and all responsible office holders should abstain from picking such political lines,” Shagotra said.
He demanded that five marla plots must be given to the border residents at safer places so that they can move to such places at the time of hostility on the border. He also demanded financial assistance to the displaced border to the tune of Rs10,000 per family so that these families could meet their requirements. He also demanded special recruitment drive in the border belt.
While reacting to the problems being faced by the local residents, Mr Shagotra regretted that elected representatives of the border belts have failed to solve day today problems of the people. He said that except tall promises nothing concrete has been done for these helpless people.
The program was organised by Rocky Choudhary, LYC general secretary and Nimrandeep Singh, AYC president. Garu Ram Bhagat- Ex MLA, Sarwan Choudhary (Lambardar), Bhupinder Singh, Rajvir Manhas, Balbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, Chetan Wanchoo, Charanjeet Singh Cheeku, Hoshiar Singh Chib, Ricky Dalotra and Khushwant Singh also accompanied.
