SAMBA, Oct 1: Former Minister and PCC general secretary Manjit Singh today appealed the Government to provide five marla plots to the border residents as per the commitments in the safer places.
Addressing meeting of Congress workers at Vijaypur  today, Singh said that the situation on the International Border (IB) is worse. People living along the borders have left their houses and constantly living under the fear of being bombed. They have no safer places of their own, he said.
The Congress leader lauded the role of  Indian Army for its ‘surgical strike’ inside PoK where many terrorists were killed before they could have managed to sneak into India.
“Indian Army has taken such a brave step which Pakistan and its sponsored terrorists would never forget. As the tension has erupted on the borders, we need to take care of the border residents besides supporting our security forces,” he added.
Singh said that people are ready to support security personnel especially Army in whatever situation. “They have made up mind to work shoulder-to-shoulder with Army in case of any aggression from Pakistan on the border,” he said.
Appealing the Government to fulfill its promise, former minister said that the Government should provide five marla plot  to each family who is resident  on border in the safer places.
“The Government should construct a room on the five marla plot and give to the border residents. They need safer places at this moment,” said PCC general secretary.
Criticizing State Government, Manjit Singh said that when entire nation stood with the martyrs of Uri, Pathankot and other terrorist attacks,  J&K Government did not release any compensation like other States in the country for the martyrs.”
