Srinagar, Aug 2: A protester who was hit by a bullet during clashes in Pulwama district yesterday succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS hospital this morning while curfew like restrictions were imposed in parts of Srinagar and strike called by separatists against the killings paralysed life in Kashmir.
Akeel Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Gabarpora Hawl was hit by a bullet in his abdomen in the clashes in Pulwama district yesterday. He was rushed to hospital in Pulwama after he received bullet injuries wherefrom he was referred to SKIMS hospital where he died during early hours today. He had suffered extensive damage in liver.

He was initially operated at Pulwama hospital and later was shifted to SKIMS here. We operated him again here but the youth due to his extensive liver damage died today,” he said.
As his body reached home, protests broke out in the area during which protesters pelted stones on the security forces in the village and they retaliated by firing tear gas.
Two militants including a top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander, Abu Dujana and Arif Lelhari, were killed in a gunfight in Hakripora village of Pulwama district yesterday. A protester was killed after security forces opened fire on protesters while police said that he was killed in cross fire.
Meanwhile, restrictions were imposed in Srinagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of even Police Stations including Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Kralkhud, Nowhatta and Maisuma.
Contingent of police and paramilitary CRPF were deployed in the strength in Srinagar. They had erected concertina wires and iron barricades on roads to prevent the vehicular and pedestrian movement.
The Administration had also ordered closure of all educational institutions in the Valley to avoid escalation of street protests.
The life in rest of the Valley remained paralysed due to strike called by seperatists against the killings of two militants and a civilian in Pulwama yesterday.
Shops, business establishments and petrol pumps were closed while the vehicular movement was thin on the roads.
And the mobile internet services were restored this evening in the Valley after it was snapped after the killing of Abu Dujana. However, train services that were suspended yesterday continue to be shut.
In the meantime, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar today ordered that the teaching activity will remain suspended in Amar Singh College, SP College, Gandhi College, Islamia College, SP Higher Secondary School and MP Higher Secondary School tomorrow. And the District Magistrate Anantnag, also ordered that teaching activity will remain suspended in all Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges of the district tomorrow.
