Srinagar, Mar 6: Dozens of people today staged a protest against the disappearance of a local youth in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Local reports said the protesters blocked vital Srinagar-Bandipora Highway and demanded whereabouts of the missing youth, Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, of Wagipor village in Sumbal. Riyaz is a distributor with a private telecom company.
The protesters accused police of failing to trace Riyaz, who is missing from last Friday, and alleged that police is doing nothing in this regard. As the protest continued, a police party led by a senior officer, rushed to the spot, the reports said.
The reports added that the cops assured protesters of prompt action vis-à-vis tracing the missing youth and later on the protesters dispersed off peacefully.
