Protest against water, power, LPG shortage

RAJOURI, July 22: Local people held strong protest demonstration against PHE and PDD authorities and also against shortage of LPG here today.
The people from Thundi and adjoining wards of Rajouri town assembled near Khandli bridge and raised barricades on the road. They started protest demonstration against PHE and PDD authorities. The people alleged that due to long power curtailment and shortage of water, they were facing lot of hardships. They continued their protest for about 45 minutes. The movement of vehicles was disrupted.
Later, SHO Rajouri reached the spot and assured the people to take up the issue with the concerned PHE and PDD officials. He also talked to them on phone. The people then lifted dharna.
Another protest was held by the locals outside DD Gas (LPG) Agency at Kheora near District Hospital. The people alleged that they keep waiting in long queue outside agency for hours together but the agency staff always projects shortage of LPG cylinders. They raised slogans against Agency, district administration and CAPD officials. They alleged massive black marketing of cylinders. They protested for about 30 minutes. The protest was stopped with the intervention of police. Later, another truck loaded with LPG cylinders reached there and the staff started delivery. The protest was then stalled by the consumers.
