Protest rally taken out demanding Punjabi as official language

JAMMU, Sept 20: A protest rally was organized today by various organizations to support the demand for declaration of Punjabi language as one of the official languages in J&K UT.
The Punjabi speaking people from Sikh Naujawan Sabha Chatha Farm (Jammu), Sarpanchs, Gurdwara Local Committee, Corporators, Panchs, Punjabi Bhasha Sangarsh Committee, Jammu Kashmir president Dr Manojit Singh and Punjabi Lekhak Sabha president Jammu & Kashmir, Akali Dal, Jammu Kashmir Sikh United Front J&K, Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thackeray J&K Unit, J&K SC Confederation, Muslim Federation, J&K Dalit Samaj and others participated in the protest.
The protestors raised slogans in support of their demand. The speakers made appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor J&K Manoj Sinha to declare Punjabi as one of the official languages of J&K UT.
The rally which started from Chatha passing through routes like Karan Bagh, Upper Gadigarh, Gadigarh, Rani Bagh, Airport, Satwari, reached Digiana Ashram Jammu where it culminated with Sermon (Ardas) performed by Shriman Mahant Manjit Singh Ji Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch.
Those who led the protest rally were president Naujawan Sabha, Sarpanch Chatha Avtar Singh, Sudershan Singh Wazir Chairman Sikh United Front J&K, Balwinder Singh Sarpanch Satwari, Aaya Singh Ex-Sarpanch Gadigarh, Darbinder Singh (president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K), Rajinder Singh (general secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K), Mohinder Singh (chief organizer Bhai Khanya Nishkam Seva Society), Prof Youdvir Singh (Corporator), Fateh Singh (secretary DGPC Jammu) and others.
