MENDHAR, Dec 6: People from Balakote block of Poonch today held protest against PHE authorities and blocked road for about one and half hours.
The villagers from Basuni, Dharati, Balakote Forward and Upper areas assembled at Bhata Durian on Mendhar-Jammu road and stalled the movement of vehicles. They held strong protest demonstration against PHE authorities Mendhar and Poonch for their failure to ensure water supply in the area. They alleged that for the last three months people were suffering but no action has been taken by the Mendhar PHE Sub Division authorities. Even water tanker supply has not been provided.
Later, Tehsildar arrived there and he pacified the people. He also spoke on phone to the AEE and XEn on the issue. Then on the assurance of Tehsildar, the villagers lifted dharna.
