POONCH, Apr 25: People of  Ajot village and adjoining areas held strong protest against PHE authorities  and blocked Poonch- Rawlakote (PoK) road, disrupting movement of  weekly bus between the two sides today.
The locals of the area came out on the road in the morning and raised barricades at Ajot. They started protest dharna on the road.   The villagers were raising slogans against the of  PHE authorities and District Administration Poonch.
The villagers alleged that due to strike of the PHE daily wagers for the last more than 45 days, the water supply to these villages and many hamlets has been badly hit.  The authorities have failed to ensure  regular supply of water. The general public is badly suffering. With this, the bus carrying passengers from Poonch to Rawlakote got struck for over two hours.
Later, SHO and Tehsildar Poonch reached the spot and they assured people to take up the matter with the concerned officers. The people then lifted dharna and allowed the movement of vehicles.
Besides passengers  travelling between Poonch and Rawlakote  in `Rahen Milan’ bus, several officials also remained stranded in their vehicles on this road.
