POONCH, June 2: The people from Shela Dangri area of tehsil Mandi held protest demonstration against R&B authorities and blocked road near Mandi town for about two hours.
Reports reaching here said that people from the area came out on the road during the day today and started protest demonstration. They alleged that work on Azmabad-Shela road was started many years before by the PWD (R&B) but after doing a little work the work was abandoned. The people of the area are facing lot of hardships in the absence of road connectivity.
The matter was taken up with the concerned MLA from PDP and also on earlier occasions with the then NC MLA Jan but the work on this road was not re-started. The concerned R&B staff do not clarify the reason behind suspension of work. They just say that they were nor provided funds for this road. The villagers raised loud slogans against local MLA and R&B Executive Engineer and concerned minister. The movement of vehicles remained suspended for some time. Later, with the intervention of local administration the road was cleared by the villagers.
