Protest in Samba, Ghagwal against Pak, killing of Sarpanch

SAMBA, Jan 14: The people including Panchs and Sarpanchs held strong protest demonstration at Samba and Gaghwal towns against Pakistan and the killing of a Sarpanch and firing at woman Panch in Kashmir.
A large number of people including ex-servicemen of the area assembled in Upper Bazar Samba at around 11 am today and then took out a protest march towards Bus Stand on National Highway. They were raising anti-Pakistan slogans and demanded direct action against Pakistani troops. They strongly condemned the incident of beheading two Indian soldiers in Mendhar area of Poonch by Pakistani troops by intruding into this side of LoC.
The protesters shouted slogans against Pakistani President and its Army and demanded retaliatory action. They termed the incident as clear aggression by the Pakistani troops. The protesters also burnt the effigy of Pakistan. After staging protest demonstration for about two hours, then they dispersed.
Meanwhile, Sarpanchs and Panchs from 15 Panchayat Halqas of Ghagwal block, under the leadership of Sarpanch Bimla Devi held strong protest demonstration against the killings of Sarpanch and firing at woman Panch in Sopore area of Kashmir recently. The Panchayat members also raised anti-Pak slogans for the killings of two Indian soldiers in Poonch sector.
Carrying banners and placards and projecting demands, they took out protest march in the town under the banner of All J&K Panchayat Conference. They moved towards Jammu-Pathankote National Highway to lodge their protest. The movement of traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time. They demanded security for Sarpanchs and Panchs from the Government. They alleged that Omar led Government has failed to protect the elected public representatives.
