Protest in Pulwama over alleged murder of barber

SRINAGAR, Jan 18: Residents held protests today at Tengpuna village of Pulwama district against the alleged murder of a local barber who was missing and his body was found yesterday.
Ghulam Muhammad Hajam, a barber by profession, of Tangapuna village of Pulwama was missing since January 3 after he left for his shop at Pulwama Town but never returned. However his body was found at Katipora village of Chursoo in Awantipora yesterday.
The protesters at Tengpuna today blocked the Awantipora-Pulwama road in the morning and demanded speedy probe into his death. They alleged that the police are doing nothing to trace the ‘culprits’.
Reports quoting police said initial investigations have revealed that the death might have been caused by drowning. “We are investigating the case and no angle will be left without proper investigation,” a senior police official said, adding that the findings of the probe will be made public in due time.
