BASOHLI, Oct 16: Sub Divisional Magistrate, Bani today placed two Junior Engineers of PDD under suspension after the people of the area held strong protest demonstration at Bani town against local administration for its failure to restore power supply to famous Jourian Mata shrine in the area during Navratras.
The members of Jourian Mata Shrine Committee and locals of the area today assembled in the Bani town and held strong protest. Angered over the attitude of neglect of the local administration and PDD, the Beopar Mandal also joined them. They closed their shops and other business establishments and then joined protest. Many people from the town including women and children also held protest.
The protesting villagers and devotees were shouting slogans against MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal, SDM Rajesh Kumar Basotra, Tehsildar Bani Shiv Kumar, Executive Engineer concerned and AEE PDD for their failure to ensure facilities to the pilgrims during Navratra festival. They said a large number of pilgrims are visiting Jourian Mata Shrine every day but during the first four days of Navratras, the PDD field staff has failed to restore power which is already disrupted for the last several weeks. The pilgrims, Shrine Committee members and Langar Committee is facing lot of hardships due to this. Even the track was not repaired this year by local R&B staff.
Later, they sat on dharna outside the office of SDM and Tehsildar and held strong protest. The people got agitated over the remarks of Tehsildar but with the intervention of SDM the angry devotees were calmed down. The SDM talked to Executive Engineer and AEE concerned and assured the devotees to restore power within 24 hours. The people then lifted dharna.
Meanwhile, the SDM, R K Basotra suspended JE PDD (STD-II) Sub Division Finter, Receiving Station Sarthli (Bani), Narinder Kumar Khajuria and JE PDD (M&RE) Bani, Surjeet Chouhan for their failure to restore power to this important shrine during Navratras despite prior directions about 15 days back. The concerned sector officers have been asked to hold an inquiry and submit report within ten days.
