Protest against hospital staff for negligence

POONCH, Aug 28: The people including attendants of a patient held protest against the Hospital Administration Mendhar for alleged negligence.
Reports said that the trouble started after a middle aged woman, Maqbool Begum (52) wife of Mohd Rafiq, hailing from village Dharana was brought to the SDH Mendhar by the attendants at around 3 pm today. The attendants alleged that they kept waiting in the Emergency of the hospital for about one and half hour but there was no doctor to attend the serious patient. Even the other staff was not available. A doctor who was in his quarter, also refused to come to hospital and attend patient. After this development, they called media and some media-persons along with camera started taking bites.
Then BMO Mendhar Dr Parvez Khan and another doctor after coming to know about it rushed to the hospital and they allegedly manhandled and abused some media-persons. There were heated arguments on both the sides. Then some more media-persons and locals of the town assembled there in the hospital and started protest against the BMO and hospital staff. For over two hours the patient remained unattended by Medical staff.
Then the SHO Mendhar and Naib Tehsildar rushed to the hospital to control the situation. One of the media-persons also sustained injury. Later, they lodged a written complaint against the BMO and staff.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dr Tanveer Ahmed himself reached the hospital after some time and pacified the protesters. He also assured to hold inquiry into the matter. The patient after providing treatment at SDH Mendhar was then referred to the Rajouri hospital.
SHO Mendhar, Insp Mohd Amin when contacted said that written complaints from both the sides have been received but no formal FIR has been lodged in this connection. Regarding any preliminary inquiry into the matter, he said police has yet to hold inquiry.
The SDM, Dr Tarveer Ahmed claimed that he has asked BMO to call explanation of the doctor on duty as he was not available and submit report to him by tomorrow. The BMO also said that he has called meeting of entire Medical staff including BMO tomorrow morning and will take appropriate action. Regarding FIR, he said that SDPO who is out of station, has assured both the sides to resolve the issue tomorrow after dialogue. He said no formal FIR has been lodged so far.
