MENDHAR, Feb 20: People from Harni and adjoining areas today blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about three hours and held protest demonstration against the education authorities.
The people were alleging bungling in the selection procedure of ReT teachers in the zone. They pointed out that candidates having higher merit were ignored and those having low merit and less qualification, were appointed. They also alleged that standing norms have been violated while releasing the latest list of ReT teachers.
They shouted slogans against Director School Education Jammu, CEO and DyCEO Poonch and ZEO Harni. With the blockade of road from 10 am to 1 pm, the traffic remained suspended on the road and the public suffered. Later, SHO Gursai and Naib Tehsildar reached the spot. They assured the agitating people to take up the issue with the concerned higher authorities. The people then lifted dharna.
