Protest against police inaction at Gharota

JAMMU, Oct 12: A protest demonstration against police inaction was held today at Jandial in Gharota area of city outskirts.
Scores of people assembled at village Jandial on Bantalab-Akhnoor Road and block the road for near two hours leading to disruption of traffic movement. The protestors were raising slogans against the police for his inaction in a thrashing case, which was registered with Police Station Gharota on Friday.
According to the protestors, a Mini-Bus driver identified as Sunny alias Kaka son of Sikander Singh and resident Agore was beaten by some local Rajput boys in Gharota area of city outskirts on Thursday evening following a brawl erupted between them on a petty issue.
The family members of the victim on Friday registered a complaint in this regard with Police Station Gharota but no action was taken against the culprits and they are still roaming freely, they alleged.
Later on the assurance of the senior police officers that appropriate action would be taken against the culprits soon, the protestors suspended their protest.
