JAMMU, Mar 15: Principal Sessions Judge Poonch, Jaffer Hussain Beigh has acquitted Zooni Begum, wife of Satara of Surankote, who was facing trial in murder of her close relative Zebo over old enmity.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge Poonch observed, “the two views are possible on the evidence on record, one pointing to the guilt of the accused and other leading to his innocence”, adding “the accused is entitled to have the benefit of the one which is favourable to her”.
“As the prosecution case has not been proved beyond all reasonable doubts, the accused is entitled to acquittal”, the court said while giving the accused benefit of doubt.
