Jammu, Oct 23: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray here today staged a protest demonstration and raised slogans against the proposed hike in power tariff.
The protest was led by J&K Sena president, Manish Sahni who said that after becoming a Union Territory J&K got gifts like heavy penalty on violation for traffic rules, heavy toll tax and now big power bills.
“Now the people are thinking that perhaps the special status to J&K was better,” he said adding that on one hand the people of J&K are suffering from heavy recession and on the other proposed increase in electricity bills by 25 to 40 per cent will badly affect the industrial units that are already suffering due to economic slowdown.
Sahni said that the Government should put the plan of increasing the power tariff on hold.
Shiv Sena Women Unit President, Meenakshi Chhibber; Working President, Ashwani Gupta; General Secretary, Vikas Bakshi; Senior Vice President, Surjit Singh; Secretaries, Raj Singh, Balwant Singh, Sanjeev Sudan, Sneha Kaur, Rajesh Handa, Champa Devi and Ritu Handa were also present on the occasion.
