Properties of 610 KPs restored

JAMMU, Feb 9: Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai today said the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s high-level committee to ascertain reasons behind stampede incident at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine has taken many measures including Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based crowd management system, installation of additional CCTV cameras and more deployment of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel at the Bhawan.

Rai stated this in Lok Sabha in response to a written question.
Meanwhile, as many as 610 Kashmiri Pandits were given back their properties left behind in Kashmir following eruption of militancy there in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Rai also said in the Rajya Sabha that 3,000 state government jobs were created for Kashmiri migrants under the Prime Minister’s Development Package-2015 (PMDP-2015) with an outlay of Rs 1,080 crore.
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has appointed 1,739 migrants and selected additional 1,098 migrants under PMDP-2015.
“As per the information provided by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the land of 610 applicants (migrants) has been restored in the last five years,” he said in a written reply to a question.
The Minister said the Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Immovable Property (Preservation, Protection and Restraint on Distress Sales) Act, 1997, District Magistrates (DMs) of the district concerned in Jammu and Kashmir are the legal custodians of the immovable properties of the migrants.
The DMs are empowered to take all steps for the preservation and protection of such properties.
“The Government has taken several measures to rehabilitate Kashmiri migrants back to the Valley that include construction of 6,000 transit accommodations in the Kashmir valley at an estimated cost of Rs 920 crore in order to provide accommodation to employed Kashmiri migrants,” he said.
The Government has cancelled the FCRA registration of nearly 1,900 NGOs for violating various provisions of law in the last five years, Rai said.
Rai also said that there is no provision in the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), 2010 for blacklisting of NGOs but if any NGO is found violating the provisions of the law and rules, appropriate action is taken.
“During the last five years i.e. 2017 to 2021, FCRA registration certificates of 1,898 NGOs or associations registered under ‘social’ category have been cancelled. These cancellations were done due to violation of provisions of FCRA, 2010,” he said in a written reply to a question.
The Minister also said if any NGO submits an application for consideration against the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the same is considered and decided as per the law. (PTI)
