Proper utilisation of CDF

Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘CDF raised to Rs 3 Cr’ DE May 17.
The decision  of the State Government to raise Constituency  Development Fund (CDF) of the legislators from Rs 1.50 Crore to Rs 3 Crore from current financial year is a step in right direction.
This hefty amount will enable the legislators to carry out developmental works in their constituencies. People have great expectations from their representatives after they vote them to corridors of power. The CDF is really a great gift with these legislators which can help them fulfill some of the promises.
But apprehension lurks in the minds of people whether this money can be spent at all during their tenure. Many reports have come in the media in the past that MPs and MLAs have failed to utilise these funds for public welfare. With the result, these funds got lapsed, and of no worth. Thereby these legislators should ensure that these funds do not lapse, and are utilised properly for all deserving sections of a society.
It may also be mentioned here that there have been reports of malpractices in running the scheme and there have been demands to scrap it. Let us hope such a situation does not arise.
Yours etc….
