This has reference to the steps taken by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed regarding promotion of tourism sector in the Jammu province. The interest shown by the Chief Minister in developing Patnitop as favoured tourist destination is more than welcome.
It may not be out of place to mention here that Jammu region is endowed with natural beauty in the shape of lush green meadows, gurgling streams, dense forests and snow capped mountains which always remain the delight of a tourist. But unfortunately, Jammu region has not received much attention, so far its tourism sector is concerned. Almost every district – Rajouri, Poonch, Bhadarwah, Doda has its unique identity and history.
Each district has something to offer to tourists, but these districts do not receive much attention. There is urgent need to create communication and road network to make them accessible to tourists without any hurdles. Besides, necessary infrastructure in shape of lodges, restaurants and hotels be created at the earliest. Publicity through print and electronic media should be given to such places to attract tourist in droves.
