Sir,
Let us plainly and boldly confess that during the two dry seasons viz before and after monsoon; the irreparable loss is done to the Green Gold as well as wild life therein by setting the lush forests on fire. It is a routine work of certain bad elements. Unfortunately, we have not been yet able to cure the chronic disease of merciless forest burning for our petty personal ends.
Though numerous departments and their branches have been created to check and control such nefarious incidents, it is schoching enough that the desired goal to save the forests from regular man made devastations is still a distant dream. The concerned agencies from top to bottom and civil society as a whole become mute spectators to such disasters in those days. It is undoubtedly an unhealthy and unholy gesture. Instead we must be concerned and worried. To save the forests from fire occurrences and to improve the environment a vigorous and relentless awareness campaign down to the grass root i.e village and hamlet levels, should be started without any delay. In fact, we should shed the hide and watch habit.
To cover up the forest losses, stress should be laid on more and more plantation drives during monsoons and winters. In the noble cause, the people of all shades of life in urban as well as rural/far-flung areas must be involved alike. None should be ignored, discriminated or over looked. All should do their fundamental duty earnestly. The Government run social organizations, NGOs etc should volunteer their-selves and render the National and Global service of plantations, awareness and every other measure to save, preserve and promote the forests. They should fix targets, adopt parks, institutions, villages, barren/vacant lands etc for plantations and preservation of forests.
Yours etc….
