SUCHETGARH, Oct 15: DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has said that the Government should first gauge feasibility of the projects before making tall claims as projects like that of Smart City, Tawi Artificial Lake etc are hanging in balance.
He was speaking after starting work of road blacktopping at Nikobal crematorium where an elder, Choudhary Chela Ram cut the ribbon in presence of Tony to inaugurate the work.
Hailing the statement of Union Minister, Hardeep Puri that Metro Rail project would be approved in a week, Tony said that most of the schemes and projects under the incumbent Government see the glittering launch but the completion got delayed and completion dates witness repeated extensions.
He called the engineering staff of J&K “lethargic” which seldom paid any heed in timely completion of projects.
The DDC member reiterated that despite umpteen representations and his personal intervention, the irrigation canal in Suchetgarh has become a point of contention between farmers and the Government because nothing has been done to de-silt the same and farmers have been left on the mercy of God as most of the fields are awaiting canal water but the irrigation set-up is unmoved.
“Even the tube wells are out of gear because of carelessness of the engineering staff of the concerned department,” he claimed.
Sai Kalan Sarpanch, Dev Raj; Panchayat Halka Nicobal Sarpanch, Vijay Kumar; Sarpanch Kuldeep Choudhary and prominent persons of Nicobal area were also present on the occasion.
Tony directed the officials accompanying him for construction of a new bridge at Sai Hare Pir.
