Dr Andrabi gifts Hockey kits to J&K’s senior, junior women teams

JAMMU, Oct 15: Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs and senior BJP leader, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today gifted Hockey kits to J&K senior and junior women teams representing the Union Territory in National level, here at Greenfield Playground Gandhi Nagar, today.
The event was organized by Hockey J&K in continuation with a Hockey festival held a few days ago where Dr Andrabi had promised to donate complete Hockey kits to the players being represented the J&K in National Senior and Junior Hockey Championships which are scheduled to be held at Jhansi and Jharkhand respectively from October 20 to 31.
On this occasion, Vijay Sharma SSP Narcotics Jammu was the guest of honour of the event and president Hockey J&K, Rajiv Sharma; general secretary Hockey India, Rajinder Singh Kuku and Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer of J&K Sports Council, Ashok Singh were present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Darakhshan praised Hockey J&K for their consistent efforts to encourage young players especially women at National level. “Khelo India Mission has helped in giving our youth a boost of spirits and the sports infrastructure a huge expansion throughout India including J&K,” she said, adding that the local Government has initiated special sports incentives to the players also.
SSP Narcotics Vijay Sharma said that women power is making the country proud and we are hopeful that J&K women players will also shine at national level by winning medals.
The Junior Women Hockey team is leaving for Jharkhand on October 17, whereas the Senior Women Hockey Team is scheduled to leave for Jhansi on October 18.
Senior coaches including Jugal Kishore, Jagjeet Singh and Anil Wadera along with other prominent sports persons including Satpal Singh, Dalvinder Singh, Anil Sharma, Ajay Gupta and Suraj Bhan were present during the event.
