NAGROTA, Dec 31: Asserting that National Conference will continue to work for progress of all segments of the State, particularly the most marginalized, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that development becomes meaningless if any section of the society feels deprived.
During his thanks-giving tour of the Nagrota Constituency, consecutively on the second day today, Mr Rana said that National Conference led Government implemented developmental schemes and welfare programmes largely in the three distinct regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh during the past six years.
“Whatever the capacity, National Conference will strive for steering the sensitive state towards inclusive and holistic development”, the Provincial President said while addressing a series of public meetings at Bajalta, Pargalta, Tuttan-Di-Khui, Saroisar, Sagooh, Kathar, Kishenpur, Korga and Sahnoo. He said no effort of growth and progress can succeed unless all segments of the society feel a sense of belonging and get equal opportunity to develop.
Mr Rana said rhetoric or populist slogans were not answer to the vexed problems faced to Jammu and Kashmir, as the challenges were enormous and the response, therefore, has to be matching. In this context, he referred to initiatives taken over the years which not only put the state on the path of development but also generated an atmosphere where democracy flourished immensely. He lauded the hard-work and visionary outlook of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, which gave a new direction to the state, especially in the wake of morass it was in when he took over.
The newly elected Member from Nagrota expressed his gratitude to the people, who remained by his side during thick of the campaigning in recent months, and said he was confident about his victory, given the confidence of the sagacious electorate. He particularly eulogized their wisdom in not getting swayed by emotive and divisive slogans and preferring development over everything else.
Mr Rana recalled with sense of pride the cooperation bestowed by the forward-looking people of Nagrota to him during the past seven years when he picked up the threads of development and got engaged in reshaping the developmental profile of the constituency.
He hoped the people will continue to bestow upon him the patronage so that the blue-print conceived about this important constituency is implemented in letter and spirit. He said he will need the guidance of the people in fixing priorities to the developmental projects and implementation of various welfare programmes.
