JAMMU, Apr 17: Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, honorary distinguished professor at the Institute and Founding Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, has been recognized among 28 distinguished personalities in the “Game Changers of the Decade” initiative featured by Outlook Magazine (April 2026).
The recognition celebrates individuals whose sustained leadership and contributions have significantly shaped India’s growth over the past decade. It comes at a time when the country continues to witness rapid transformation driven by innovation, digital infrastructure, and progressive policy frameworks.
Responding to the honour, Prof Gupta said he feels deeply humbled to be recognized alongside eminent global leaders such as Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, Nandan Nilekani and Virat Kohli. He emphasized that the recognition reflects the collective efforts of colleagues, mentors, and healthcare professionals he has worked with, underscoring the importance of teamwork and shared vision in strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem.
Director IIM Jammu, Prof B S Sahay stated that the recognition highlights leadership that builds institutions with purpose and impact. He added that Prof Gupta’s association enriches the Institute’s MBA (Healthcare) programme by bringing valuable experience at the intersection of healthcare, management and technology.
A native of Poonch, Prof Gupta has had a distinguished career in healthcare administration, having served at AIIMS New Delhi, where he headed the Department of Hospital Administration. He has mentored numerous scholars, authored over 100 publications, and contributed to key policy and capacity-building initiatives.
As the founding head of AIIMS Jammu, he has played a pivotal role in developing it into a modern, patient-centric institution, introducing innovative care models and overseeing rapid infrastructure growth.
His recognition under the national initiative reflects his enduring contribution to institution building, healthcare governance, and public service, while reinforcing IIM Jammu’s commitment to advancing healthcare management education in India.
