JAMMU, Apr 17: Prof. Ravinder Rampal Memorial Inter-College Debate was today organised in Government Degree College Kathua in collaboration with Prof D K Rampal Memorial Trust on the topic “Is Cyber a boon for the younger Generation”.
Various Colleges from the whole province actively participated. People from all walks of life, local as well as from outside Kathua ranging from Judiciary to Army, Medical and Engineering attended.
Besides trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize winners and certificates to the participants and cash prizes were also distributed.
The Trust awarded annual scholarships to those securing 1st,2nd and 3rd positions in merit in all the three Classes. Principal Prof Assa Ram Sharma, in his welcome address, thanked the guests and speakers for their active participation in spite of the panic of COVID-19 and for following COVID-19 norms strictly.
Prof R D Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu dealt in detail with the benefits of Cyber as a an essential tool for management of different problems in today’s fast life and narrated how in his own experience he was able to bring back to life many sunken organisations,but at the same time cautioned about its abuse.
Dr Vinayrampal, the Secretary -cum Treasurer of the trust while praising the principal, the staff and participants thanked them for organising such academic feats and assured them of full support from the Trust for type of help for any economic, medical or educational problems.
Agreeing that life is difficult today without the use of application of Cyber with a proviso of “It’s not the Machine,but the Man behind the Machine “which matters and also warned them about the rising incidence of Cyber-Crime and various medical syndromes associated with excessive use of Cyber especially in children and adolescents.
Prof (Dr) Manoj K Dhar, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu in his virtual address emphasised on the essence of Cyber in today’s life and stressed on the need of maintaining human values.
Prominent among those who attended were Sunita Raina, Sub-Judge Kathua, Dr SS Padha, reputed Orthopaedic Surgeon, Col. Rajinder Singh former Great Gunner, Trustees of Prof D K Rampal Memorial Trust, former Chief-Engineer Ravi Gupta and Col V K Rampal.
