JAMMU, Aug 22: Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Agrasen University Prof (Dr) SP Bansal, was conferred Life Time Achievement Award by Philippines University and Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress on the eve of International Tourism Convention for his outstanding contribution in the field of tourism and education.
On the occasion, more than 150 distinguished educationalists, experts from other disciplines and students from different Universities in India and abroad were present.
Dr Bansal shared his views and thoughts regarding his long professional career highlighting various aspects of tourism education. He said that India and Philippines should take appropriate steps to increase tourism between them and start working upon new joint projects in this direction.
Sripad Yashonayak, Minister, Department of Tourism, Government of India released the book “Tourism: Concepts, Issues and Challenges” authored by Dr Bansal.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding academic collaboration between Maharaja Agrasen University and Philippines University was signed under which both the Universities would take appropriate steps to improve the quality of education by incorporating ethical values for the benefit of the students of Himachal Pradesh.
Dr Nand Kishore Garg, Chancellor, Maharaja Agrasen University said that it was under the unique leadership of Dr Bansal that Maharaja Agrasen University is scaling new heights. Dr Garg also said that achievement by Prof Bansal is a matter of pride not only for Maharaja Agrasen University but also for the State of Himachal Pradesh.
