JAMMU, May 5: Expressing displeasure over miserable condition of road leading to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof Mohammad Asghar, Dean, School of Mathematical Sciences & Engineering and Principal, College of Engineering, has lodged his protest with Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
Prof Mohammad Asghar said that BGSBU road is in miserable condition and the concerned department is not serious to repair it which has become a big headache for thousands of students, nearby villagers and BGSBU staff who are using the road on daily basis.
In this regard, Prof Asghar wrote a letter to Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rajouri and sent its copies to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Commissioner Secretary, PWD, Chief Engineer PWD and Executive Engineer, PWD Rajouri.
The letter reads that at the time of the establishment of the University in the year 2005 a link road was constructed to provide a means of transportation to students and people of adjoining rural areas. However, over period of time it has been dilapidated mainly because of extremely poor maintenance.
He said though the University road has been catering to the need of thousands of students, faculty, other employees and people of adjoining 4-5 villages but the condition of this has been dilapidated and the Agency responsible for its maintenance is in deep slumber doing nothing.
“Lots of pits and patches have been created because of spells of rainfall and these fatal pits and patches are sufficient to cause severe accidents any time”, he said and demanded to immediately repair the road in the better interests of the people.
