JAMMU, Mar 14: Pro-tem Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Shafi, today said that the media always plays an important role in bringing the proceedings of the House to the fore.
The Pro-tem Speaker said this while chairing a meeting of media persons at the Legislature Complex, ahead of the ensuing budget session of the State Legislative Assembly, slated to be held from 18th of this month. He requested the media fraternity to give positive and impartial coverage of the proceedings during the session.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari was also present.
The Pro-tem Speaker directed the concerned officers to ensure that adequate amount of rooms are kept reserved for comfortable stay of out of station media persons at the Circuit House during the session. He further said that media being the forth pillar of democracy has always played vital role in the building up of better society.
Earlier, the Pro-tem Speaker chaired a meeting of high level officers Police and Civil Administration, wherein security related arrangements for the upcoming budget session were finalized.
During the meeting the Pro-tem Speaker was briefed about the arrangements made for security, parking, medical, mobile and internet connectivity and other related facilities.
The Pro-tem Speaker urged upon the officers of different departments to work in a coordinated manner so as to ensure that the session is conducted smoothly and concludes in a good atmosphere.
