Priyanka Gandhi today hit back at HRD Minister Smriti Irani after her attack on Nehru-Gandhi family, asking her why IIIT was not being set up in Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Rae Bareli as promised during the UPA rule.
Priyanka, who is on a two-day visit to her mother’s Lok Sabha constituency was responding to Irani’s veiled allegations yesterday that Nehru-Gandhi family had made only “hollow” promises to the people of the constituency all these years. “She (Irani) is the HRD Minister. First she should tell us why she is not setting up an IIIT here. The youth are facing a lot of problems and this is her department. Why is she not looking into it,” Priyanka said while interacting with reporters here. She said the people here are facing numerous problems and that she was “deliberately” visiting the place. Irani, who unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections from Amethi against Rahul Gandhi, was on a day-long tour of Amethi and Rae Bareli yesterday during which she made an indirect attack on Nehru-Gandhi family, saying that after years of promises, this time development work will start soon.
