Priya flags off cultural group for London

JAMMU, Oct 12: History was created in the field of performing arts of the State when the first ever cultural group from Jammu and Kashmir was flagged off for London here this evening at Abhinav Theatre by Minister of State for Tourism and Culture  Priya Sethi.
The occasion marked with the electrifying performance by the artists who are going to perform at the House of Commons, British Parliament, UK. This colorful presentation “Celebra-ting Diversity” is conceptualized, devised, designed and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur who is the Regional Director of ICCR, J&K.
This show was locally hosted by J&K Cultural Academy. Sharing his concept of the presentation and welcoming the august gathering Balwant Thakur informed that it took him years to devise this concept as lot of research and hard work has gone into it to create a performance representing the true essence of the cultural ethos of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion Priya Sethi assured all help from the State for development of arts and culture and desired artists community to take inspiration from such professional presentations. State needs such kind of initiatives which can project the cultural strengths in the right stride.
The artists who participated in this world class show included  Rahul Singh, Sunny Mujoo, Ankush Bhasin, Nikhil Manhas, Aarti Slathia, Naina Sharma, Gauri Thakur Bindia, Jyoti Kumari, Saloni Verma, Shazia Batool and Simran Kaur. The show was choreographed by Rakesh Kumar Kona and the lights were designed by Suraj Ganjoo and sound by Pankaj Sharma. The show was ably conducted by Anil Tickoo and coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Yudhveer Sethi, Senior vice-president BJP, Danish Rana IGP Jammu, Sarita Chauhan IAS, Commissioner/Secretary Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu and Lalit Magotra, Eminent Writer.
