Principal PTTI Vijaypur lays stress on afforestation

VIJAYPUR, Oct 6: The Care Nature & Environment Society, in collaboration with the Fahad Mir Foundation, organised a plantation drive at the Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in Vijaypur the other day.
The event witnessed the participation of Shiv Kumar Sharma, Principal, PTTI, Vijaypur, alongside his staff officers and trainees.
In his address, Sharma underscored the profound importance of afforestation, particularly in the wake of substantial deforestation due to highway expansion, road widening, and extensive construction activities.
He emphasized the pressing challenges posed by global warming, natural disasters, excessive rainfall, and extreme climate variations.
The Principal PTTI also highlighted the adoption of the slogan “One Jawan One Plant” by J&K Police, a noble initiative led by DGP Dilbagh Singh and recently implemented at PTTI Vijaypur.
Gagan Mahajan, a dedicated social activist and entrepreneur, stressed the urgency of not only planting more trees but also nurturing them to ensure their survival.
Ruchi Chouhan, Secretary of the NGO, along with fellow members and volunteers, spearheaded the second plantation drive, resulting in the planting of over 100 trees. It’s noteworthy that the NGO previously conducted its first plantation drive at IIT Jammu.
The event also saw the active participation of Seema Kakryal from the Labour Department, as well as the collaboration of social activist Imran Sheikh, founder of Dast E Maddadgar, and the young activist Tanya Sharma.
The collective efforts of Sabreen Mir, Abhishek Bhadwal, Nitish Sharma, Kuldeep Sharma, and Gourav added to the success of this noble initiative.
