JAMMU, Nov 20: On the second day of ongoing week-long Programme of Audit Diwas, a voluntary blood donation camp was organized here today.
The camp was organised by Principal Accountant General, Jammu in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Govt. Medical College, Jammu.
Principal and Dean GMC Jammu, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta inaugurated the camp.
Principal GMC thanked the blood donors for coming forward to donate blood and save precious lives and he also insisted that other organizations should also come forward and promote the noble cause of voluntary blood donation which will be a boon for the patients needing regular blood transfusions especially cancer, kidney disease and thalassemia patients.
HoD, Blood Centre thanked the camp organizers and INTAS Foundation for this noble gesture and she highlighted that with this Van the Department will be able to conduct voluntary blood donation camps at far flung and hilly areas also which will go a long way in promoting voluntary blood donation in these areas.
Ravinder Singh, Sr. DAG also appreciated the blood donors and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu for smooth organization of the blood donation camp in which around 70 blood donors donated blood for the needy patients.
Earlier, Principal GMC also inaugurated and dedicated 2-bedded blood donation van donated to Blood Centre, GMC Jammu by INTAS Foundation.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Dr. Meena Sidhu, Professor & HoD, Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu, Ashwani Khajuria, Administrator GMC & Associated Hospitals, Jammu and Jivtesh Singh, Chief Accounts Officer, GMC Jammu.
