GUNA (MP): President Ram Nath Kovind today emphasised the need to have social security for workers in the unorganised sector.
The President was addressing ‘Asangathit Shramik Sammelan’, a convention of labourers from the unorganised sector here.
“No society can progress without being mindful to the welfare of the working classes, the deprived and underprivileged sections. In the labour sector in India, the share of workers in the unorganised sector is over 80 per cent,” he said.
Kovind said most of the workers of the unorganised sector are engaged in agriculture and construction.
“There is a great need for social security for these workers,” the President said, adding that he was happy over the Centre’s move to create a ‘Social Security Code’ for such workers. (AGENCIES)
