Previous Govts failed to fulfill dreams of Ambedkar: Dr Jitendra

JAMMU, May 4: Lambasting the successive Governments at Centre and in the State, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent Charge of North Eastern Region, Dr Jitendra Singh today accused them of total failure in percolating the benefits of democracy to the lowest starta of society as dreamt by architect of Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar.
Addressing a function organised by SC , ST, BC Development Corporation Ltd here, today, Dr Jitendra Singh rued that even after the seven decades of democracy, the fate of deprived and underprivileged people has not changed in the country as the same was not the priority of previous rulers. He said the fate of Dalitis has not changed though it is the third generation after independence now.

He, while giving full credit to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for launching many policies for the betterment and upliftment of weaker sections, said to give full recognition to the services of Dr B R Ambedkar, Narendra Modi Government has decided to celebrate 20 day long programme in connection with birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar from April 14 to May 5 all over the country. The God had perhaps left this task for Modi Government and BJP, he added.
He while showering praises on Balbir Ram Rattan, VC of the Corporation as well as the staff of the Corporation, Dr Jitendra Singh said Corporation is doing yeoman’s service to the weaker sections of the society.
He said in line with the spirit of the policies of the Government in uplifting of the weaker sections, the Corporation has undertaken multi –faceted programmes to usher in economic freedom in the said sections of the society.
Dr Jitendra Singh, on the occasion handed over Payment Authority Letters to the beneficiaries belonging to the weaker sections of the society from Kathua district. The function is one in the series of such programmes being organized by the Corporation all over the State to mark the twenty days long birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Ambedkar, aimed at socio-economic upliftment of the weaker sections.
The Union Minister expressed his total satisfaction over the efforts of the Vice Chairperson of the Corporation  Balbir Ram Rattan in giving a dynamic direction to the policies aimed at uplifting the weaker sections of the society across the length and breadth of the State. In special mention to the team of Balbir Ram Rattan whose efforts have galvanized the corporation in providing targeted relief,  Dr Singh said that dedicated people are valuable resource when such policies for weaker sections are to be undertaken.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that it was the dream of Dr Ambedkar that a man from weaker section of the society should rose to the Post of President and Prime Minister of the country and present  President and Prime Minister belong to weaker sections of society. He said all the leaders in Modi Government are wedded to the cause of weaker sections of the society.
While highlighting the policies and programmes for weaker sections launched by Modi Government, he said that the first decision of this Government was that old age pension was increased to Rs 1000.
He said after taking over by Modi Government a new work culture emerged in the country. He said people supported every decision and policy of Modi Government like a Mission whether it was demonetization or GST.
He said demonetization was announced just before UP elections but the people gave overwhelming support to Narendra Modi in the elections. Even former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi could not take decision on demonetization, he added.
On this occasion, eighteen beneficiaries, fifteen from SC community, one from ST community and two from differently abled persons, were handed over Payment Authority Letters of the loan amount sanctioned in their favour to set up their own income generating units.
Balbir Ram Rattan in his address highlighted the achievements and Government schemes meant for weaker sections. He appealed the people to take full benefit of these schemes.

Yasin FA/CAO, Ghulam Qadir Khatana,General Manager, Mohd Iqbal Kataria, Manager Projects, Anil Gupta, Manager Finance, Kasturi Lal, Manager Recovery, Joginder Pal Atri, District, Manager Jammu,  K K Bhagat District. Manager Kathua, Anu Gupta, Section Officer, Sanjeev Dogra, Manjor Kumar, AAOs, Mohinder Paul, Statistician and others, including many dignitaries of the civil society were present in the function.
