Shimla, May 4: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Shimla on Saturday beginning her five-day visit to Himachal Pradesh from May 4 to 8.
She landed at Kalyani Helipad at 10.35 am from a special airforce helicopter and was received by Governor Shiv Partap Shukla.
Murmu was originally scheduled to land at the Jubberhati Airport at 11 am, however, a clear weather prompted the President’s aircraft to land at Kalyani Helipeds which is near Rashtrapati Niwas, previously known as the Retreat, the president’s summer home in Shimla.
During her visit, Murmu will stay at the Rashtrapati Niwas, Mashobra, here. The entire route from Shimla to the Retreat has been declared sensitive to ensure safety of the President.
On May 6, the President will attend the 7th convocation of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala.
On May 7, the President is scheduled to witness a cultural programme at Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, Shimla.
