JAMMU, Dec 18: Bollywood actress Preeti Saproo and Panun Kashmir today held a meeting at Jagti Migrants Colony in view of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Samman Yatra 2018 from Gurudwara Sheeshgunj to Anandpur Saheb commencing on January 6, 2018.
The meeting extended full support to yatra. Speaking on the occasion, Saproo urged the community to participate in Guru Teg Bahadur Samaan Yatra-2018 in a big way. The yatra, being organised in the memory of sacrifices made by the great Guru for the Hindu community of the Valley, will start from Gurdwara Sheeshganj on January 6 and will conclude at Anandpur Sahib. She said the “Samaan Yatra” will aware people about the martyrdom given by Ninth Guru of the Sikh community, Guru Teg Bahadar for protection of religion and humanity.
Saproo said this was being done to inform children of Kashmiri Pandits about the sacrifice of the Guru for them and the entire humanity. There was huge contribution of the sacrifice of the Guru for existence of Hinduism in the country. Kashmiri Pandits took help from Guru Teg Bahadar Sahib. “The yatra is focused on sending a message throughout the country and across the globe that we should live in unison and safeguard those who are facing atrocities, forcible conversions and ethnic and religious discrimination”, said the actress.
Teg Bahadur resisted the forced conversions of Kashmiri Pandits and non-Muslims to Islam, and sacrificed his life while saving them from conversion to Islam by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. His martyrdom is remembered as the Shaheedi Divas every year on 24 November, she added.
